Opportunities and Outreach

Our various VAPA programs participate in many community outreach activities.  We provide our students with opportunities to travel, compete, perform, have their works in art shows, film festivals, and galleries, etc.

Our music groups take a large scale trip every two years. They have traveled all over the world, including San Francisco, Orlando, New York, London, Rome, and Nuremberg. In the last year alone they appeared all over Los Angeles, including Walt Disney Concert Hall, Westfield Topanga, Magic Mountain, Disneyland, the Woodland Hills Country Club, Fallbrook Glen, Valley Outreach Synagogue, and others. They have also had workshops from LA Master Chorale singers, at Disney World and Disneyland, and reach out to local elementary and middle schools to provide workshops for younger people interested in the arts.

Drama puts on two professional level mainstage productions each year, and the students are fully involved in all aspects of the production process.  They participate in the Drama Teachers of Southern California Fall and Shakespeare festivals, both at the JV and Varsity levels.  They regularly travel to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the largest arts festival in the world.  Yearly, they have an excursion to New York City to see Broadway productions.

Visual Arts programs partake in field trips to Getty Villa and Getty Center, LACMA, MOCA, MOMA, Norton Simon with parents as chaperones. Guest speakers from various art schools, FIDM, Art Institute, SCAD and Art Center, to name a few.
Our students participate in the CSUN Annual High School Invitational, held every year at California State University Northridge, and the Canoga Park Art Festival, LAUSD’s largest art gallery.

Our film students have participated in prestigious festivals all over the greater Los Angeles area, and many have also had the opportunity to travel to other parts of the world, including Seattle, France, and Nepal, to create documentaries and compete in larger scale festivals.
