Dance

The El Camino Real Dance Department offers dance as PE credit for 9th and 10th
graders and may be taken in the 11th and 12th grade as either an elective or
Visual/performing arts credit. Students who have not passed the State mandated
Physical Fitness Test by 10th grade may take dance as continued PE credit.
Two dance periods are offered. Period 3 dance includes advanced level jazz,
lyrical and contemporary, intermediate level jazz, lyrical and contemporary and
beginning jazz. Period 4 dance includes advanced level hip hop, advanced level
jazz, lyrical and contemporary, and beginning jazz.
Many of the dance groups enjoy dancing in various performances throughout the
year. Hip hop dancers perform at pep rallies, the homecoming halftime show, a
few men’s basketball games as well as the amazing end of the year dance show.
The advanced and intermediate groups from both periods perform at “Power to
the Artist”. This is an incredible evening which showcases all the arts at El Camino
Real…dance, vocal, jazz band, orchestra, drama as well as the art classes. Both
those groups will also perform at our end of the year dance show. The beginning
dance groups will focus on learning technique and performance skills.
Performance in the dance show for beginners is not guaranteed. They will
audition to be cast in it.
Please watch the  dance video montages Ms. Marshall has made from
present and past years to see what an amazing dance program we offer at El
Camino Real.  You can find them on the dance portfolio page.
